Lucas Barela is a solid cornerstone of
modern day traditional Country Music.
Born and raised in Belen New Mexico, Lucas became a product
of contemporary Country Western Music.
Needless to say, the men who drove that kind of music,
greatly influenced Lucas’s style.
George Jones, George Strait, Tracy Byrd and Mark Chestnutt
all came together in the mix that built the foundation of Lucas
Barela Country Music.
1998 is the year that Lucas truly broke
ground on his Country Music career.
While proudly serving his country in the Air Force, Lucas
began to emerge as a young artist on the local scenes.
Luckily, for Lucas, he just so happened to be stationed at
Dyess Air Force Base right in the heart of West Texas Country Music.
The crowds and venues varied for Lucas, ranging from intimate
pub like bar settings to full throttle fairgrounds and rodeos.
Steeped in the smoke and dust of honky tonks and rodeos,
Lucas embodies the bold flavors of no holds barred traditional
country music, while sustaining the smooth tones of rich country
ballads.
In 2001 Lucas was honorably discharged
from the Air Force. This
would mark the beginning for huge commitments on the behalf of
Lucas, for he averaged 220 shows that first year alone.
With the doors wide open, Lucas saw only one horizon ahead of
him. The neon lights and
twangy sounds of Lower Broadway guided Lucas into the honky tonks of
Nashville, TN. Lucas’s genuine sincerity and charisma led to
pivotal friendships with accomplished singer/songwriters such as
Roger Springer and Damon Gray who took him under their wing.
Lucas became a student of Honky Tonk 101.
With
the best of the best ten deep, Lucas learned to be rock solid and
innovative, because Nashville demanded it.
Times had begun to change the face and sound of Country Music
and Lucas was forced to truly examine who exactly he was, and more
importantly who he would portray to the scrutinizing ears of Country
Music Fans. There are
two distinctive fronts in Country Music; that of new contemporary
Country Music and that of traditionally based Country Music.
Lucas Barela seems to somehow firmly reign the power of
Traditional Country while innovatively exploring into current
Country Trends for further artistic growth.
Since
making Nashville his home, Lucas continues to enrich his Tenor tones
with authentic honky tonk time served.
Without limitation, Lucas still performs in various venues
both near and far, large and small.
Lucas’s sound comes fully equipped with some of
Nashville’s greatest musicians, who drive that sound right into
the hearts of Country Music fans.
Currently, Lucas is in production with some of his 30
original tracks. Lucas
Barela’s arsenal also includes master cuts of Roger Springer
written songs, specifically written for Lucas.
Lucas Barela is a throwback of a genuine country star, with
an astounding presence. Ladies
love his smile and men shake his hand and everyone goes home wanting
more.
